Ann Barcomb: Master Thesis Research

Success Factors of Free/Libre and Open Source Software Businesses as Social Entrepreneurships

I believe that privacy is a serious consideration and feel that individuals can best determine if their personal requirements are met if they are provided with sufficient information.

Data which is entered in forms is stored, in plaintext, in a database. Only the system administrator and I have read access to this database; the scripts do not.

If you sign up to receive a copy of the thesis once it is complete, your email address will be used to send you either a copy of the thesis or a URL where it can be downloaded. Email addresses will be deleted from the database once the information has been sent.

If you contact me, I will most likely respond to your message via email.

If you indicate interest in participating in my research, I will contact you before the end of August, 2009 to either schedule an appointment for an interview, or to decline your offer. All registration data and correspondence related to it will be retained as part of my records of this research, in a repository. Only I and the system administrator have access to this repository.

If you participate in the research, the interview will be recorded and transcribed. Copies of the transcription will be sent to you should you wish to check for accuracy. All audio recordings and transcriptions will be stored in the project repository. In the thesis, I will conceal the names of individuals and companies on request. However, it may be necessary to share portions of the original transcripts with my thesis supervisor if there are any questions about my methods.

Should it be necessary for me to change any of my storage arrangements, I will contact all participants concerning the changes.
